Today’s COVID-19 numbers look worse than they technically are, Milton.
That doesn’t mean the numbers are great, though.
Across Halton, there 101 new cases coming out of the long weekend. The spike is due to the three-day delay in updates from the Halton Region caused by the Labour Day weekend. The total number of cases is up to 18,904. With 18,522 resolved cases and 238 deaths, Halton is now at 144 active cases, 24 more cases than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 18,904 total cases, 18,270 were confirmed positive while 634 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 23 new cases. That brings us to 6093 total cases. With 6022 resolved cases and 46 deaths, Milton is at 25 active cases, five more than Friday’s update. The Region says that of the 6093 total cases, 5870 were confirmed positive while 223 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 6371 total variant cases have been found in Halton. Milton has reportedly had 2185 total variant cases.
An outbreak in Milton was declared on Monday, August 23rd. It is labelled as ‘Workplace – 154’. There are two reported cases. Both are considered ‘non-Halton’ cases, meaning they are not Halton residents. It’s likely that this outbreak closes in the coming days, pending any new reported cases – or that it already has closed and the webpage has not yet updated the status.
Looking at vaccination numbers, a total of 847,843 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton. 764,109 of the doses were to Halton residents.
425,775 second doses have been administered in Halton. 382,295 of those have been Halton residents.

- 1,654 first doses and 20 second doses are pending.
The following is where the vaccine doses have been administered:
- 69,025 first doses and 87,583 second doses have been administered through pharmacies and physicians’ offices;
- 14,032 first doses and 10,386 second doses have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 339,011 first doses and 327,806 second doses have been administered through community and hospital-based clinics.
The Halton Region says that out of the 437,945 Halton residents who are immunized with two doses of the COVID-19, 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination. For Milton, there are 90,495 fully immunized residents – 0.07% of them have tested positive for the virus after vaccination.
