An update has been provided on a missing boater in the Halton region.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) first issued a missing person report on Friday, August 27th. The day before, shortly after 6:00 p.m., the boat of 70-year-old Robert Wyles was found adrift in the area of 16 Mile Creek and Lake Ontario. No occupants were aboard the ship. Police investigation revealed the ship was purchased earlier in the day and the experienced operator was observed alone, boarding and leaving Bronte Harbor at roughly 12:30 p.m. where he had purchased the vessel.
On Tuesday, August 31st, at roughly 10:30 a.m., a boater in the vicinity of Bronte Harbour in Oakville notified the HRPS of a deceased person in the water.
The HRPS confirmed this to be Robert Wyles, who went missing on the 26th.
In the release, the HRPS extended their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Wyles, and thanked the public for their assistance in the search.
