The Milton Chamber of Commerce has started handing out COVID-19 rapid testing kits.
Yesterday was the first day of the free giveaway for local small businesses at the Town of Milton’s Hugh Foster Hall. The kits are currently being stored at Gordon Food Service.
CEO at Country Heritage Park Jamie Reaum was the first to pick up a kit. He says it’s great to have something like this available.
He adds that having employees tested regularly will be great for the peace of mind aspect as well.
The second business owner to pick up a kit was Edward Fiore, owner of Milton’s House of Chords. He was then followed by Troy Newton of Troy’s Diner.
Milton MP Adam van Koeverden was on-hand for the event. He says continuous testing and further vaccine rollout will help us get to a smooth reopening phase.
Milton MPP Parm Gill was also there to greet business owners.
The tests are considered the less-invasive version where you swab the inside of each nostril with results available in 15-minutes. If an employee tests positive for COVID-19 through the rapid testing kit, they are advised to then get another test through Halton Healthcare.
Speaking with myFM last week, Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz says that he hopes small business owners take advantage of this great opportunity.

The distribution will run on 15-minute time slots, allowing for four businesses per hour. This will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Walk-ups will not be permitted.
