The Halton District School Board has created a Human Rights & Equity Advisory Committee.
On it are parents and guardians, the community and HDSB staff members. The HDSB says the goal is to propose and respond to human rights and equity initiatives that support student achievement and well-being.
“We recognize the systems of oppression that exist within society at large and within educational institutions, including the HDSB,” says Rob Eatough, Superintendent of Education. “The actions and the accountability measures in The Way Forward seek to dismantle systems of oppression and challenge dominant traditions. The Human Rights & Equity Advisory Committee will provide input on the scope and direction of initiatives to promote human rights and equity across the HDSB.”
