The Canadian Federation of Independent Business sees some positive moves being made in the recently unveiled federal budget.
Extended COVID support and lower credit card fees are expected to help out small businesses.
Senior VP of National Affairs, Corinne Pohlmann, says she was also happy with the new Canada Recovery Hiring Program.
Pohlmann adds that she was also very happy to see the extension of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and Rent Subsidy.
It wasn’t a total home run, however. Pohlmann says the CFIB is disappointed no new measures were put in place to help address the $170,000 in COVID-related debt the average small firm has taken on. She says some new businesses are also excluded from supports.
