April is Daffodil month with the Canadian Cancer Society and this year it is going virtual.
Every spring for more than 70 years, CCS has launched an annual Daffodil Campaign to raise money to help people with cancer live their lives more fully.
myFM News spoke with Senior Manager and Program Manager for the Daffodil Campaign, Brad Stevenson.
Together, Canadians rally around this symbol every year in support of groundbreaking research and support programs that make life better for those affected by cancer. Now more than ever, the daffodil’s sunny symbol serves as a meaningful reminder for us to come together and continue to look ahead to brighter days.
Stevenson says that due to the pandemic, they can’t ask canadians to join them this year in person.
Some different ways to take part in this year’s campaign are by making a donation online, purchasing a digital daffodil or by organizing your own virtual fundraiser. More information on how to take part can be found here.
Funds raised through the Daffodil Campaign will help them to continue to provide support services and information for people affected by cancer. This includes support programs through a toll-free helpline, live chat on cancer.ca, and online peer support community, as well as shifting their wig program to a virtual platform, which is more accessible to all communities across Canada.
