A Correctional Services Officer at Vanier Centre for Women in Milton has been charged with sexual assault offences.
On March 8th, the Halton Regional Police Service was made aware of a sexual assault that happened within the correctional facility on March 5th, and started an investigation. During the course of the investigation, a second victim was also identified stemming from a separate incident that also occurred on March 5th, within the facility.
42-year-old Dwayne Jason Thomas of Brampton was arrested on March 25th. He has been charged with:
- Sexual Assault (2 counts)
- Breach of Trust (2 counts)
Thomas was released on an undertaking.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
