The Halton Regional Police Service has arrested a 56-year-old Hamilton man in connection with child luring offences.
John Douglas Hashimoto of Hamilton has been charged with:
- Luring a Child Under 16 Years
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
Hashimoto is a retired teacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and is actively involved in youth baseball in the City of Hamilton. He was at one point the Lead Baseball Instructor for the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy and a Master Coach Developer and Evaluator for Baseball Canada. The Blue Jays have since confirmed to the Halton Police that Hashimoto hasn’t worked for the organization for roughly a year.
He was communicating online using the names David or David 46. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.

The HRPS ends the release by reminding residents that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
