More than 40 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Halton for Wednesday, March 17th.
Across Halton, there are 42 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 10,155. With 9689 resolved cases and 199 deaths, Halton is now at 267 active cases – five less than Tuesday’s count. The Region says that of the 10,155 total cases, 9824 were confirmed positive while 331 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have 22 new cases. That brings us to 3203 total cases. With 3097 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 70 active cases – three more than Tuesday’s number. The Region says that of the 3203 total cases, 3093 were confirmed positive while 110 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 261 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 240 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 72 total variant cases: 61 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 303 total cases reported during this outbreak. 191 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, one case is unspecified and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was recently removed from the stats.
The Halton Region is also noting vaccination numbers. The numbers are updated weekly, with the most recent being on Friday, March 12th. A total of 40,922 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Halton:
- 28,367 have been administered through the Halton Healthcare COVID-19 Vaccination Centre;
- 11,385 have been administered through the Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Mobile Teams;
- 1170 have been administered through the newly launched COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
