After a slight spike in new cases in recent weeks, Halton’s active cases are dropping once again.
Across the Region, there are 30 new cases. The total number is now 10,113 cases. With 9642 resolved cases and 199 deaths, Halton is now at 272 active cases – nine less than yesterday. The Region says that of the 10,113 total cases, 9790 were confirmed positive while 323 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have seven new cases. That brings us to 3181 total cases. With 3078 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 67 active cases – 11 less than Monday’s number. The Region says that of the 3181 total cases, 3074 were confirmed positive while 107 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 257 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 236 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 72 total variant cases: 61 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 303 total cases reported during this outbreak. 191 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, one case is unspecified and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was recently removed from the stats.
