Between Friday, March 12th and Monday, March 15th, a death has been reported in Halton.
The Halton Region has updated its stats, showing 199th deaths total – one up since myFM News most recent COVID-19 report. The death appears to have been a Halton Hills resident, giving the town 55 deaths total. Oakville remains at 59 deaths, Burlington at 49, and Milton at 36 deaths. The death is also the first reported in Halton since our update on March 3rd.
Across Halton, there are 40 new cases. The total number of cases is up to 10,083. With 9603 resolved cases and 199 deaths, Halton is now at 281 active cases – 14 less than Friday’s reported number. The Region says that of the 10,83 total cases, 9761 were confirmed positive while 322 were considered probable cases.
In Milton, we have three new cases. That brings us to 3174 total cases. With 3060 resolved cases and 36 deaths, Milton is now at 78 active cases – 26 less than Friday’s number. The Region says that of the 3174 total cases, 3069 were confirmed positive while 105 were considered probable cases.
The Halton Region is also detailing the number of COVID-19 variant cases. It says that 240 total variant cases have been found in Halton: 219 were screen positive and 21 were confirmed variants of concern. Milton has reportedly had 70 total variant cases: 59 were screened positive while 11 were confirmed variants of concern.
The outbreak at Maplehurst is reportedly still open. On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is the Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 302 total cases reported during this outbreak. 191 have been residents, 13 have been staff members, and 98 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. A death that was previously attributed to the outbreak was recently removed from the stats.
