Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner’s opposition to a proposed toll 400 series highway is gaining support.
The GTA West Corridor is a toll highway spanning from York Region, running through Caledon and ending up in Halton Region. Recently, Orangeville, Halton Hills and Mississauga councils also spoke out against Highway 413.
Schreiner says that, aside from the threat of paving over farmland, Ontario has bigger fish to fry.
Ontario Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney says the highway “will help alleviate traffic congestion and improve the movement of people and goods across the province.”
Schreiner disagrees with that statement, saying there are other ways to open trucking routes in the GTA.
