There is a big drop in active cases in Milton and Halton as the first wave of cases from Maplehurst’s outbreak have been declared resolved.
Across Halton, there are 26 new cases. That brings the total to 8938 cases. With 8447 resolved cases and 182 deaths, Halton is now at 309 active cases – 94 less than yesterday.
In Milton, there are five new cases. The total case count is now 2842. With 2726 resolved cases and 33 deaths, Milton is now at 83 active cases – 66 less than yesterday.
There are three more deaths across Halton. The deaths appear to have been two Burlington residents (49 deaths total), and a Halton Hills resident (42 deaths total). Oakville remains at 58 deaths total.
Looking at Milton’s major ongoing outbreaks:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 27 reported cases at Allendale. 13 are residents, two are staff members, five are unspecified, and the other seven are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been four deaths at the LTCH: two were residents, while the other two are still not specified.
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 276 total cases reported during this outbreak. 177 have been residents, nine have been staff members, five are currently unspecified, and 85 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
