Ontario is postponing March Break until the week of April 12th to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the decision was based on the advice of the province’s Chief Medical Officer and other experts.
Lecce spoke about the move with myFM News.
The delay isn’t sitting well with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, who says postponing March Break to April is another example of the government making a unilateral decision that has no clear rationale or basis from experts.
Lecce says he understands the struggle for some teachers but this is the best move for safety.
The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon. You can read Minister Lecce’s original statement here.
