Two Halton residents have reportedly died from COVID-19.
Both deaths are believed to be Burlington residents, giving the city 40 deaths total. Halton is up to 163 deaths from the virus.
Across Halton, there are 29 new cases. That brings the Region’s total to 8468 cases. With 7951 resolved cases and 163 deaths, Halton is now at 354 active cases – 29 less than yesterday’s report.
In Milton, we have 14 new cases. Our total is now at 2683 cases. With 2551 resolved cases and 31 deaths, Milton is now at 101 active cases – seven less than yesterday.
Looking at the ongoing outbreaks in Milton:
- Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 18 reported cases at Allendale. Eight are residents, two are staff members, three are unspecified, and the other five are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been two deaths. One was a resident, the other hasn’t been specified just yet.
- On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 190 total cases reported during this outbreak. 114 have been residents, nine have been staff members, one is currently unspecified, and 66 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Below are the numbers for Ontario, including roughly 745 new cases province-wide, which is likely an underestimated count due to an issue with Toronto’s system. There have been 270,925 total cases in Ontario.

|---|---|---|
| Number of cases footnote 1 | 270,925 | N/A |
| Change from previous report (new cases) | 745Toronto Public Health has now migrated all of their data to the provincial data system, CCM. This migration has impacted today’s daily counts. Most notably, TPH’s case count is negative following the identification of duplicate cases as well as data corrections to some fields (e.g., long-term care home residents and health care workers), resulting in an underestimation of today’s cases. In addition, case counts for other PHUs may have been affected by system outages related to the migration. As a result, we anticipate fluctuations in case numbers over the next few days. | 0.3% increase |
