A Halton resident is reportedly dead from COVID-19 as we come out of the weekend.
According to the latest stats from the Region of Halton, Halton now has 161 deaths total – one more than what was reported on Friday. The death was an Oakville resident as the town is now at 54 deaths total. Both Burlington and Halton Hills remained at 38 deaths from the virus; Milton is at 31.
Across Halton, there are 57 new cases. The total number is up to 8439 cases. With 7895 resolved cases and 161 deaths, Halton is now at 383 active cases – 69 less than Friday’s reported number.
In Milton, we have 26 new cases. The total number is 2669 cases for Milton. With 2530 resolved cases and 31 deaths, Milton is now at 108 active cases – 63 less than Friday’s reported number.
The outbreak at Milton’s Revera Birkdale Place is now considered closed. The outbreak began on December 16th and the Region closed it on Saturday, January 30th. In total, the retirement home had 57 cases: 40 of the cases had been residents, eleven were staff members, three were unspecified, and three were ‘non-Halton’ cases. There was one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
On Monday, January 18th, the Halton Region reported an outbreak at what is classified as ‘Congregate Living – 37’. It’s believed that this is Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which was reportedly experiencing an outbreak at the same time of the same magnitude. As of the time of writing, there have been 188 total cases reported during this outbreak. 114 have been residents, eight have been staff members, three are currently unspecified, and 63 are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases.
Since Sunday, January 10th, there have been 18 reported cases at Allendale. Eight are residents, two are staff members, three are unspecified, and the other five are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There have been two deaths. One was a resident, the other hasn’t been specified just yet.
