Two more Halton residents have died from COVID-19, giving the Region 153 deaths total.
The two deaths are believed to be Halton Hills (38 total) and Burlington (34 total) residents.
Across Halton on Monday, we have 51 new cases. The total is now up to 8056 cases. With 7434 resolved cases and 153 deaths, Halton now has 469 active cases.
In Milton, we have 19 new cases. Our total is now up to 2562 cases. With 2333 resolved cases and 29 deaths, Milton is now at 200 active cases.
A major outbreak at a congregate living space in Milton is the latest cause for a spike in new and active cases. ‘Congregate Living – 37’ as it is listed by the Region of Halton is believed to be Maplehurst Correctional Facility, which early last week was reported to be experiencing a major outbreak. ‘Congregate Living – 37’ now has 131 total cases, with 85 listed as residents, six as staff members, three are unspecified and 37 are listed as ‘non-Halton’ cases. No deaths have been reported.
Taking a look at the ongoing institutional outbreaks in Milton:
- Since December 16th, there have been 57 cases reported at Revera Birkdale Place. 40 of the cases have been residents, eleven have been staff members, three are unspecified, and three are ‘non-Halton’ cases. There has been one death associated to the outbreak at the retirement home. It was a resident.
- As of Sunday, January 10th, a third outbreak has begun at Allendale. As of the time of writing, there are nine reported cases. Four are residents, three are unspecified, and the other two are categorized as ‘non-Halton’ cases. There is one death reported at the LTCH. It was a resident.
