100 Women Who Care Milton has chosen its first charity of 2021.
Last week, the group held its first meeting of the year. They meet quarterly to collectively hear from three local charities and then, the group votes and the winner receives $100 from each member of the group. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the group has been meeting virtually, with a previous attempt at a socially distanced in-person event as well.
The Lighthouse Program For Grieving Children was chosen as the charity to receive the funding. In its Facebook Page bio, the program says it provides “free, open-ended, peer support for grieving children, youth and their families across the GTA and virtually,” as well as a “safe, non judgmental and inclusive space for any child or teen who is grieving.”
The two other charities that presented were the Milton Community Resource Centre and the Halton chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
100 Women Who Care Milton says that you can donate by either:
- Sending the $100 through eTransfer to 100WomenMilton@gmail.com;
- Dropping it off at Discover Wellness Within, Dr. Heather Jones office at 379 Ontario St. South in Milton.
