The Milton Public Library’s One Book, One Milton event is tonight.
The author chosen for the event is the CBC Canada Reads 2020 winner, Samra Habib, for her book ‘We Have Always Been Here’. CBC describes the book as, “an exploration of faith, art, love, and queer sexuality, a journey that takes her to the far reaches of the globe to uncover a truth that was within her all along.”
The Manager of Public Services at the MPL, Lee Puddephatt, speaks about Habib’s accomplishments.
In October, 2020, the Milton Public Library launched a photo contest to coincide with the One Book, One Milton event. Residents were asked to take photos around Milton that describe what identity means to the photographer. The judges for the contest are:
- Aiden Lee, a local 16-year old abstract painter;
- Taylor Henderson, Chapter Lead of pFlag Halton;
- Cameron Wilkinson, myFM Milton Broadcaster.
The winner of the photo contest will be announced during the event.
For the first time, One Book, One Milton is being done virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s taking place Monday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m.. There’s still time to register. To do so, click here.
