The Magical Lights of Milton hit a major milestone this past month.
Creator David Geall says that, for the first time ever, the annual lights show surpassed its goal of $10,000 raised for the Milton District Hospital Foundation.
He and his family have been crunching the numbers and if things continue to go the way they have been, the event will break $100,000 total in the next few years.
He first got into doing the lights show because he saw a few on TV and knew someone in Georgetown who does a similar act. He laughs because the technology that Geall puts into his show today did not exist five years ago, let alone when he began over ten years ago.
With the money raised, Geall says it’s very rewarding to finally hit that annual goal after more than a decade of holding the event.
He acknowledges that the community came out in droves this year to help a great cause. People mostly stayed in their cars, and if they stepped outside of their vehicles, they managed to socially distance away from other families.
Looking ahead to 2021, Geall says that he is already planning new things for the lights show to incorporate. Residents can expect it to begin on Saturday, November 27th, 2021. You’ll be able to watch it at 876 Willow Avenue in Milton.
