A bookmobile will be coming to Milton.
The Milton Public Library was given the green light by Milton’s Town Council during the recent budget meeting.
The MPL’s “branch on wheels” will be helping the rural areas of our town. It’s reportedly being designed with the environment in mind, and therefore is being called a ‘green’ vehicle. The Library says it will provide access to performance space, programming, collections, and will even have high speed internet access.
Chief Librarian Mark Williams is happy about the news of the approval.
“Getting to this point has been a labour of love for MPL staff and we are delighted that both the MPL Board and ultimately Council understood the value in investing in this new service option. Our bookmobile will be unlike bookmobiles of yesteryear, providing access to the latest technologies, performance spaces for events and high speed internet access; and of course the very best in leisure reading materials. To say we are thrilled at Council’s approval of the funding for the bookmobile would be an understatement and we look forward to bringing it to a community near you in 2023.”
It’s expected to hit the ground driving in 2023.
