Kindergarten open houses are going to be online this year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Halton District School Board is now offering a ‘virtual Kindergarten experience’. Parents and their three year olds can learn all about Kindergarten to help make the transition easier.
According to the HDSB, it’s accessible at kindergarten.hdsb.ca. Through the email, three-year olds will be able explore a Kindergarten classroom to see what their future classroom might look like next September. Parents/guardians can learn about the Kindergarten program at the HDSB, play-based learning, community resources in Halton and before-and-after school care. Families can also sign-up to receive a welcome package from the HDSB including a free children’s book.
Registration for Kindergarten begins in January and will be by appointment only (in-person and/or virtual) through the school your child will attend. Further information will be shared in the new year. To begin Kindergarten in September 2021, children must be four years old by December 31st, 2021 for Junior Kindergarten (Year 1) and must be five years old by December 31st, 2021 for Senior Kindergarten (Year 2).
