The Milton Rotary Online Auction is doing better than ever in 2020.
The numbers are starting to come in from the most recent auction. Expenses are still being tallied and they still need to collect the money from the bidders; however, sponsorships were up 40%, and the return on retail value saw an increase of 12%. That means the money that was bid on items increased by 12% when compared to the actual retail value of the items being bid on (48% last year vs 60% this year).
A member of the Milton Rotary Board, Rod McLachlan, says the results have blown them away.
In the past few years, the Milton Rotary Club has raised roughly $50,000 for the community.
All net proceeds from this auction support humanitarian projects and charities within the communities and worldwide. All funds raised via donations by businesses in Milton will remain with Milton Rotary. That means Milton benefits from Milton businesses taking part.
McLachlan says the students in Milton will benefit from this success.
He adds that the local food bank has also been a focus for the Milton Rotary Club.
Moving forward, they are hoping to hold another event in the new year called the ‘Youth Summit’. Right now, the plan is to virtually hold the event in April.
McLachlan says the event will feature lots of great local speakers.
He feels it’s a really important event to hold because the COVID-19 pandemic has been a very challenging time for local youth.
We’ll update you when a date for the Youth Summit is announced.
Congratulations to the Milton Rotary Club for holding a successful auction during a hard year!
