The Government of Ontario is investing more than $6 million for up to 52 hospital beds for Halton Healthcare.
MPP Parm Gill helped make the announcement late last week. He says the investment will help frontline workers and the community.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our frontline healthcare providers for their heroic work to keep our community healthy and well,” said MPP Gill. “Our investment of over $6 million for up to 52 new hospital beds will help Halton Healthcare, including the Milton District Hospital, continue to care for patients in need, while also enhancing access to care in our community.”
The $6,479,200 in funding is part of a $116.5 million investment plan for healthcare departments across Ontario.
In a release, the Government of Ontario says the beds are in addition to the $234.5 million investment for 139 critical care beds and up to 1,349 hospital beds included in Ontario’s fall preparedness plan, Keeping Ontarians Safe: Preparing for Future Waves of COVID-19. That means the total investment to $351 million for more than 2,250 new beds at 57 hospitals and alternate health facilities across the province.
