A local restaurant’s charity golf tournament is being deemed a success.
EddieO’s PourHouse and Kitchen raised almost $11,000 for the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton. The golf tournament was held on September 29th at Lionshead Golf and Country Club.
Owner Eddie Oliveira says it was a “smash.”
He adds that they had half the amount of people compared to last year, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Oliveira feels that just made people want to donate as much as possible.
With COVID-19 restrictions in-place, golfers had to follow certain guidelines and rules at the golf course, as well as at the restaurant. The co-operation by everyone involved blew Oliveira away.
The Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton is a charity that Oliveira holds very close to his heart. He says as a father he understands the importance of making sure that every child has the opportunity to experience the most of life. He wants to make sure he gives back as much as he can, adding that an annual golf tournament is the least he can do as a local business owner and member of the Milton community.
Oliveira says his restaurant is running on a day-to-day basis with constant talk about Halton joining Toronto, Peel, Ottawa, and York in reverting to a modified Stage 2. He adds that he can only do his part with contact tracing customers and having them follow the health guidelines.
His fingers are crossed for next year’s golf tournament, hoping that things will be closer to normal.
