Town Councillor Sameera Ali is hoping to be the next MPP for Milton.
She’s making a bid to be the Ontario Liberal Party candidate for the Milton riding.
Ali explains why she’s running for the position.
As a mother of four, Ali says she is comfortable with multi-tasking. It’s what has led her to being a Town Councillor for Milton’s Ward 4, while also volunteering with Milton’s Legion branch as their Communications and PR Professional, as well as the Milton Halal Food Bank. Ali believes that, should she be named the Liberal Party candidate locally, she will have the skills to continue wearing the many hats that she has worn over the years.
Ali feels Milton is on the edge of making the next jump when it comes to the growth of the town. That includes the town’s economy, potential local office space, residential growth, education, and educational infrastructure. Her main focus is improving the local education issues.
Ali says the Wilfrid Laurier University – Conestoga College Joint Campus should receive proper and timely funding, and feels it would help lead to Milton finally receiving all-day GO service. She believes education is the root of Milton’s growth.
In Ali’s words, Milton is young and growing quickly, which means local schools need to be addressed and built faster. St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School (formerly Jean Vanier) is reported to have gone into this school year with more than 50 portables in the parking lot. That’s an issue that Ali has repeatedly spoken about needing to be addressed.
During the federal election in 2019, Milton was treated as a hotspot for mainstream and national media. It was often spoken of as being a riding that could decide the election. Ali believes the reason why Milton has become such a unique area for elections is because of its rapid growth.
She encourages Milton residents and Liberal voters to follow the race and research who they feel is the best candidate for the position. She says you can stay up-to-date on everything she is doing by following her Facebook page. If you want to reach out to her directly, Ali says you can reach her through 416-569-4640.
The Ontario Liberal Party candidate for Milton will be chosen by vote on October 29th.
