The Halton Region is asking residents to find a new way to celebrate Halloween this year.
They ask that families get creative to avoid risking the spread of COVID-19. Limit non-essential social gatherings, physically distance as much as possible, wear a mask, wash hands often, and stay home when ill.
The Halton Region Public Health provided myFM News the following statement:
“Halton Region Public Health is actively monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and the recent increase in cases. We are working closely with our partners at all levels of government and in the community to ensure we are prepared to reduce the severity of a second wave.
“Limiting the spread of COVID-19 remains a community effort. Vigilance with public health measures continues to be critical and we ask all residents to continue physically distance as much as possible, wear a mask, wash hands often and stay home when ill (even with mild symptoms).
“As COVID-19 transmission is more likely to occur when there is close contact between individuals in enclosed spaces and from social gatherings, Halton Region Public Health implores the public to minimize non-essential social gatherings as much as possible, and when having these gatherings, to have them in small numbers, maintain a two metre physical distance and to wear a mask.
“As we await Provincial guidance on Halloween and recommendations, now is a good time for families to get creative and consider planning new ways to celebrate Halloween and continue to take all precautions and remain vigilant to keep yourself, your family and community safe. [Halton Region Public Health encourages] residents to follow our Halton Parents team on social media, where they continue to offer families with tips and advice on how to keep up routines and have fun in the safest way possible.”
myFM News will update you if the Ontario Government offers any official guidelines for Halloween.
