The Italian Cultural Centre of Milton is ecstatic with the turn-out of their drive-in concert series.
The shows took place earlier in the month to raise money for various local charities. The four physically distant shows were spread across four nights on two separate weekends.
President Rosanna Conteduca says it really came together well.
The local charities that were able to benefit from the concert series were ROCK, Pack a Bag Foundation, Halton Women’s Place, the Milton District Hospital Foundation, and the Townsend Smith Foundation. Each concert had an individual theme that correlated with the charities.
Conteduca says, originally, a drive-in concert was a hard idea for some people to grasp; however, the people that came out weren’t shy with their praise.
An early estimate is that roughly $3,000 was raised.
Conteduca is still hoping they can hold their annual event ‘ItaliaFest’. While it was cancelled this year due to COVID-19, she’d like to see it return in some capacity in 2021. That said, don’t rule out another drive-in concert series.
She commends the Milton community for all of their hard work in supporting local businesses and organizations during a tough summer.
