The Rotary Online Auction is closing this weekend!
This is the 21st edition of the auction that first began as a TV auction. There are now nine clubs that take part in this particular auction, which include Milton, Georgetown, Oakville, Burlington, Kitchener, and more.
Residents are still able to bid on a wide arrange of items donated by local businesses.
A member of the Milton Rotary Board, Rod McLachlan, says there are some deals to be had.
All net proceeds from this auction support humanitarian projects and charities within the communities and worldwide. All funds raised via donations by businesses in Milton will remain with Milton Rotary. That means Milton benefits from Milton businesses taking part.
McLachlan covers some of the ways it has helped the Milton community.
A new aspect this year is that the Milton Rotary Club is looking to help local businesses. They have offered the businesses that have donated items that they can receive 25% of the proceeds in order to help stay open during the pandemic.
McLachlan provides an example.
In the past few years, the Milton Rotary Club has raised roughly $50,000 for the community. That makes this auction their prime event of the year, especially given that the Gala was cancelled due to COVID-19.
It’s a great way to find presents for people around the Christmas period. Doing so also happens to support local, and raise funds for local causes.
The Rotary Online Auction will run until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st.
