A Milton resident will be drumming for 12 straight hours to raise money for Parkinson’s research.
Kevin Farmer’s father has been living with Parkinson’s Disease for 16 years.
He talks about what you can expect for Drums For Parkinson’s.
Farmer was inspired to come up with the idea after posting a drumming montage on Tik Tok that garnered a lot of attention.
The professional drummer says he’s been working on his stamina to get ready.
Not every parent expects their child’s drumming to one day be used for funding medical research.
Farmer says his dad has been supportive of his drumming since day one, and that he’s happy to see it be used for something like this.
Farmer’s father, Alan, has been fairly fortunate in his journey with Parkinson’s Disease, if one could ever be. Kevin says his dad had surgery to help with the shaking.
The adventure of Drums for Parkinson’s began when Farmer was just looking to do something for the cause. He originally thought he’d get a few hundred dollars, especially as this is his first attempt at doing the fundraiser.
However, after reaching out to Parkinson Canada, as well as drum companies, he managed to gather up a few ideas and some prize packages that would help push the event to the next level. Now, people can bid on some interesting drum-related items with the proceeds going to the fundraiser.
At the time of writing, Farmer is already at 75% of his $5000 goal, having raised $3756.
Drums for Parkinson’s is taking place on Sunday, August 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. You can watch the live stream here!
As mentioned, you can donate right now. To do so, click here.
