
An internal investigation has been launched after an inmate was released from Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17th, Halton Regional Police Service was notified by staff at Maplehurst that a prisoner had been released in error.
Since then, the Ministry of Solicitor General has launched an internal investigation.
“Upon determining the release, the ministry alerted Halton Regional Police Service. The ministry has launched an internal investigation. We are working closely with the police service to assist in locating the offender,” says the Ministry in a statement.
The inmate released is Amritpal Singh Aujla.
He was last seen leaving the correctional complex on foot and is described as follows:
Aujla was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit (not black as indicated in the original release).
He also was wearing an orange turban.
