Milton Santa Claus Parade, 2019
The Milton Santa Claus Parade is currently on hold until 2021.
myFM News spoke with Vice President of the Parade Committee, Liane LaBarbera.
She says the decision was a tough one, but was made with public safety in mind.
LaBarbera adds that the Santa Claus Parade traditionally has a lot of floats that all would have needed monitoring.
She says that with all of the clubs involved in providing floats, it became impractical to hold the parade in 2020.
The Parade Committee is made up of a collection of local residents who volunteer their time to organize the event every year. They researched the feasibility of holding the event this year. After some discussion, the group decided it was not a good idea to hold an event of the parade’s magnitude with so many unknown factors.
The announcement of the parade cancellation was made a few weeks ago. At the time, several listeners blamed the Town of Milton for the decision to cancel the event. LaBarbera says the Town had no say in the matter.
Residents can expect the Milton Santa Claus Parade to return in 2021.
LaBarbera wants residents to be ready for an even better experience.
She says the number one concern remains the safety of the community, and thanks all of the volunteers and their sponsors.
myFM also looks forward to seeing everyone on Milton’s Main Street come next year!
