Last week a 25-year old woman from Halton Hills was killed by her partner in a domestic incident in Brampton.
The deceased has been identified as Darian Hailey Henderson-Bellman.
The accused, Darnell Reid, faces charges of second degree murder in connection to Henderson-Bellman’s death, as well as possession of a loaded firearm and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.
CP24 reports that Reid had been arrested on four separate occasions for breaching terms of his release by being in contact with Henderson-Bellman.
The Development and Communications Manager of Halton Women’s Place, Carm Bozzo, says this is preventable, and that we need to step up together to advocate and create change.
She says if these are the laws and policies in place, universally and collectively we need to sure they change.
Bozzo adds that we need to ensure her death is not in vain.
Halton is not immune to domestic violence, she reminds everyone that abuse happens in every community, including ours.
