The Halton Police have laid charges following an alleged hate motivated assault on Saturday in Oakville.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the Halton Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of Cornwall Road and Trafalgar Road.
The assault happened after the victim approached the accused who was seen crouching down near the victim’s vehicle.
When the victim, who the police notes is a visible minority, asked the accused what they were doing the accused allegedly yelled several racial slurs and assaulted the victim.
The victim was left with minor injuries.
The accused is a 34 year old man from Oakville who has been charged with assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and for causing a disturbance.
The arresting officer was not harmed.
The accused was released from custody with a court date.
