A Georgetown resident is facing charges after he was caught driving 50 km/h over the limit.
22-year old Brian Lund was pulled over in Dashwood by Huron County OPP.
The officer clocked Lund in at 100 km/hr in a posted 50 zone.
Upon being stopped, the driver reportedly got out of his vehicle and ran behind a building.
After being quickly apprehended, a witness told the officer that Lund had thrown a firearm into nearby bushes.
A quick investigation led to the retrieval of an air pistol.
The officer then conducted a roadside test for alcohol. Lund blew over the legal limit.
Further investigation found Lund was currently prohibited from driving and was bound by court conditions to not have any weapons.
He is facing a list of charges:
- Race a Motor Vehicle;
- Operation While Prohibited;
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
- Fail to Comply with a Release Order;
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).
A court appearance was scheduled for July 9th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
