The head of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) is calling for the decriminalization of simple possession of illicit drugs.
In Halton Deputy Police Chief Roger Wilkie says that they are fully behind the motion.
He provides evidence that the current route isn’t working.
Finally, he says that the work isn’t done yet.
The association is calling for the creation of a national task force to look into drug policy reform.
With the CACP recommendations, police would continue to target drug traffickers, producers, and importers.
