Milton Town Council unanimously passed a motion requesting Halton Region to enact a region-wide temporary mandatory by-law requiring the use of non-medical face masks or coverings in enclosed public spaces to ensure consistency across all four municipalities.
This direction aligns with Oakville and Burlington Council motions.
“A region-wide approach makes the most sense as Halton Region residents move across our municipalities in the course of their daily living, leisure or work,” stated Mayor Gord Krantz.
“Non-medical masks and face coverings are one way to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and Council remains focused on reducing the spread of the disease in Milton. We appreciate our residents continued commitment to doing their part through physical distancing, washing their hands, wearing a non-medical mask, and staying home when ill.”
Halton Region will consider a region-wide by-law for the mandatory use of masks on July 15, 2020.
