The Care4Cause Foundation made a big donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Milton.
On Wednesday afternoon, the organization dropped off a truckload of bags with $60 worth of hygiene products in them.
The Foundation is a sister charity to the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation.
Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. talks about what goes into launching a donation like this one.
Singh adds that he wants to make sure the Care4Cause team can establish themselves through hard work.
He says they’re doing just that during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Milton’s Salvation Army Pastor, Peter Hickman, says it’s very helpful to have these local organizations give back like they have.
Hickman adds that Milton has a strong sense of community. He says that’s shown when you have public figures like Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Jeet Singh Jr., and local delegates being active to give back.
The Care4Cause Foundation followed up their donation at the Food Bank with a similar one made at the Halton Women’s Place.
Milton MP Adam van Koeverden says it’s important for shelters and food banks to receive hygiene product donations.
He adds that while Milton is an affluent community, that doesn’t mean there aren’t people struggling. He says there needs to recognition that, while Halton has fortunate residents that are well off, that wealth is obviously not evenly dispersed across every member of the community, and that we need to make sure that no one is falling through the cracks.
Regional Councillors Mike Cluett and Zeeshan Hamid, along with Town Councillor Sameera Ali, joined Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz in attending the donation drop off. Councillor Cluett had the chance to also attend a similar event in Brampton earlier that morning.
Councillor Cluett says it was fantastic to contribute a great cause.
Councillor Hamid shares his thoughts on the day.
Councillor Ali shares her own thoughts as someone who works closely with the Milton Halal Food Bank in a small capacity.
Two years ago, Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. made the declaration to take the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation’s Miracle on Main event national. That was after partnering with the Halton Police’s Toys for Tots campaign. Last year, they brought the event to Brampton for the first time.
He commented on this year’s Miracle on Main event, saying that with the COVID-19 outbreak, they’re just focusing on holding the event first, rather than expanding to any new communities.
