Milton Town Council has approved a motion that would pave the way for Cannabis production in Town.
The proposed amendments reflect the recommended approach from the Cannabis Background Study, prepared for the Town in 2019.
According to the report, the cannabis production includes: growing, harvesting, processing the extraction of cannabis oil, and the manufacturing of products containing cannabis.
The Regional Councillor for Ward 3, Mike Cluett, says that these bylaws give more regulations for production.
The amendment includes clear direction on development application requirements for cannabis production and processing facilities and requires all proposed facilities to obtain site plan approval.
However, Councillor Cluett says that the bylaws could have gone further in terms of control.
