The Townsend Smith Foundation is bouncing back after a slow spring.
The COVID-19 outbreak put a hamper on the organization’s fundraising goals.
They have received several donations from local groups and businesses.
Director of Development, Kate Holmes, talks about a $5,000 donation made recently by the Knights of Columbus.
She adds that another donation was made by a company in Campbellville.
According to Holmes, Storage Solutions also gave $5,000 to Townsend Smith Foundation to help bring a future hospice to North Halton. Several more smaller donations have also been made recently.
She says things are starting to pick up again.
Last year, the Townsend Smith Foundation received permission from Milton’s Town Council to pursue the possibility of using the building on Chris Hadfield Way as their potential location for the future hospice.
The organization even went as far as holding events like morning yoga at the facility.
Holmes says the talks to use that building have been put on hold, and the Townsend Smith Foundation is still looking for a location for their future hospice.
She says they are in talks with Conestoga College to build a working relationship.
You can attend webinars being held by the Townsend Smith Foundation. They will cover topics that may help during a troubling time like the COVID-19 pandemic. The first webinar will cover ‘Grieving a Loved One’s Death During Covid’. It’s scheduled for July 15th.
