Childcare centres in Ontario are set to reopen today; however, for some centres, the timing isn’t ideal.
Sandra Borenstein is a Director at a childcare centre.
She says that giving them two days isn’t realistic.
Borenstein adds that there seems to be a double standard in terms of notice.
Milton MPP Parm Gill says that even though child care centres can be open in two days, that doesn’t mean that they have to be open.
Which seems to be the case for Borenstein.
However, MPP Gill says that they have been in contact with stakeholders when developing the policy.
Some of the regulations include:
- Cohorting putting children and staff in groups of 10 or less day over the day;
- COVID-19 response plan all child care settings will be required to have a plan in place if a child, parent or staff member/provider is exposed to COVID-19;
- Screening all staff and children must be screened before entry to the child care setting. Anyone feeling unwell must stay home;
- Daily attendance records child care settings must keep daily records of all attendees to support contact tracing;
- Cleaning child care settings must be thoroughly cleaned before opening and frequently thereafter;
- No visitors only essential visitors are permitted entry into the child care setting;
- Implementing drop-off and pick-up protocols in a way that facilitates physical distancing.
