Colleges and Universities are coming back.
This afternoon Minister of Colleges and Universities Ross Romano says the first phase will include students in essential, frontline, and high labour market demand areas such as nursing, personal support workers, engineering, and other critical professions.
Romano says certain students still require in person training to graduate and get into the workforce.
The framework to reopen postsecondary will begin as early as July 2nd and finish in September.
Romano says the limited summer reopening will help individual institutions prepare for the fall term by ensuring proper health and safety protocols are in place.
Social distancing and screening measures will be in place. Romano says peer-to-peer monitoring will also be used to enforce social distancing rules.
While Milton does not currently have a postsecondary location, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College remain adamant that a joint campus is still in the works, despite the Ontario government cutting the funding for the school in 2018.
