This afternoon, Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz provided an update on how the Town has handled COVID-19, as well as delivered a message to residents.
The full statement can be read below:
“On behalf of Milton Council, I want to thank our community for their continued efforts in doing their part to keep Milton healthy and safe. The past three months have presented new challenges that many of us wouldn’t have predicted – our economy, our workplaces, our social interactions, and our daily living all look quite different.
“Through all of this, there have been some positives. Businesses have demonstrated resiliency in how they do business, whether changing how they do business, incorporating new digital tools, or adapting to alternative work locations. We’ve become intentional about our interactions with one another and take the time to stay connected. We’ve slowed down in our daily lives, and are appreciative of things we may have taken for granted.
“Our community has come together to do what has been needed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by listening to public health officials and their guidance. As a result, I’m pleased to see the re-opening of some of our businesses and the Town’s public spaces for our residents to access.
“Now is the time to continue to do our part. As our economy begins to re-open and we begin to be in the public more, it’s important that we keep following public health guidelines to keep our community, especially the most vulnerable members of our community, safe and healthy.
“We all need to stay focused on being part of the solution. The COVID-19 situation is not over.
“With the warmer weather, I know we want to get out and enjoy the sunshine and it’s even more difficult for the kids. Parents, I’m asking for your assistance, especially in that you please remind your children to follow the rules.
“The COVID-19 situation is changing regularly. The Town has a section on its website that clearly lists what’s open and closed, and I encourage you to check it often. You can also subscribe to the web page to receive updates to your inbox. To stay informed, with the most accurate information about the Town’s service impacts, visit Milton.ca/Coronavirus.
“Milton, we are in this together, and I thank you for your cooperation as we respond to and recover from the pandemic.
“Take care and stay safe,
Mayor Gord Krantz”
