
The Halton District School Board is helping their seniors fulfill their prom wishes by holding a virtual prom on Thursday, June 11th at 8:00 p.m..
This year has been particularly challenging for senior students due to COVID-19 and a group of students wanted to make sure their final year was recognized.
The Halton District School Board’s Superintendent of Education Innovation and Ingenuity, Leadership and School Operations, Jacqueline Newton talks about the student engagement that made this decision.
The school board’s communications team are helping the students make promos for their “Hoodies and High Heels” themed prom.
They are making the event social through their Twitter handle @hdsbvirtualprom and their Instagram account. HDSB are also encouraging student involvement through their Promposal challenge and getting students to post pictures.
Newton talks more about how the board and students are making this as interactive as possible.
She shares a message of support for students who are disappointed that they can’t all gather to celebrate this year.
