Last Friday, the national unemployment rate for April was announced to be 13%.
It’s the highest unemployment rate since 1982.
Milton MP Adam van Koeverden says, from what he’s seen and heard, Milton seems to be holding up better than most communities.
He adds that a lot of the unemployment is temporary.
MP van Koeverden is confident in the job market to rebound because of how strong it was in January and February.
He speaks to what businesses can do to stay active at a time that is so uncertain.
If you’ve lost your job recently, or if you lose your job in the coming weeks, van Koeverden says you’ll still qualify for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
