The provincial government has extended the declaration of emergency until May 12th.
This will allow them the ability to continue to enforce emergency orders such as the closure of non-essential workplaces, outdoor amenities, public places, bars, restaurants and the prohibition of price-gouging and gatherings of more than 5 people.
Legislature also passed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Support and Protection Act to amend the Education Act, Planning Act, Development Charges Act, Police Services Act and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act.
Amendments to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Act will temporarily suspend OSAP student loan payments and will allow a six month interest free moratorium on OSAP loans.
Premier Doug Ford also said today that students will not be returning back to school on May 4th but that does not mean the rest of the school year will be cancelled.
The Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, will provide more information on this in the coming days.
