Dental care is considered an essential service but there have been some changes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dentists have been directed not to do check-ups, non-emergency or cosmetic procedures for the time being.
Doctor Kim Hanson with the Ontario Dental Association says focus has been put on four different areas.
Many of us are paying more attention to proper hygiene practices and that should extend into oral health as well.
Dr. Hanson says now is not the time to be lazy when it comes to your teeth.
Dr. Hanson says routines should involve brushing twice a day and flossing daily to prevent bacteria buildup and inflammation which can affect your immune system.
Not all dentists can treat emergencies or guard against COVID-19; however, you shouldn’t go to the hospitals emergency room to treat a dental problem.
Your dentist will have an emergency contact number, so they can either help your over the phone or direct you where to go.
