The Oakville & Milton Humane Society began the COVID-19 with up to 100 animals in their care.
As of April 2nd, they had 65 fostered and 35 more they were looking at fostering.
Executive director of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society, Rick Perciante says they are looking to foster to loving families in order to offer emergency boarding to animals whose families need help.
Perciante explains that they are looking for a foster who will be able to take care of the animal for as long as the pandemic lasts.
He also says they are looking into fostering to adopting. They would begin with looking at how the animal has adjusted to their new environment with the possibility it could be their forever home.
Typically they would want the animal to come back to the shelter before adoption.
Finally, he says it’s more important now than ever for them to see donations.
If you or a family you know are in need of their temporary emergency boarding service, it can be set up by appointment.
They have not had any calls for emergency boarding at this time but want to have the capacity to do so when the calls do come in.
