The Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association is set to go on strike on Thursday across the Province.
That means that schools in the Halton Catholic District School Board will be closed tomorrow.
However, yesterday, Education Minister Stephen Lecce made an announcement in regards to the ongoing negotiations.
He says the government has agreed to not increase classroom size for the new school year in the fall and changes would be made for the e-learning courses.
The government said, however, it is sticking with its compensation requests – 1% per year for a three-year contract – because it was established in legislation that the Ford government passed before negotiations began.
Meanwhile, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is not engaging in any strikes this week, but said that if contract deals are not made by March 6th, then they will begin a new phase of strikes effective Monday.
Stay tuned tomorrow for more teacher strike coverage.
