The Coldest Night of the Year in Milton for Milton Transitional Housing is on Saturday February 22nd.
This is a national event that 130 communities participate in.
Registration starts at 4 pm in the banquet room at the Milton Sports Centre with meet and greets, group pictures and an open ceremony that take place shortly after.
Walkers can choose to walk either 2 kms, 5 kms or 10 kms.
The event’s walk director, John Pollard, breaks down the event.
He reminds residents that registration is at 4 pm with the different walk routes kicking off at around 5pm.
Pollard says they raised about 50 thousand dollars last year for Milton Transitional Housing.
He talks about their fundraising goals for this year.
Pollard adds that the 50 thousand dollars they are hoping to raise this year will go towards running their event but more importantly to Milton Transitional Housing.
He says each year he is overwhelmed with the support they receive.
Pollard adds that they have had past clients participate who have gone through Milton Transitional Housing’s program and went on to live comfortably, are able to pay their rent and have working jobs.
